Senior Legal Innovation & Operations Partner
Overview
A growing UK law firm is looking for a senior operations, innovation and transformation professional with a legal-practice background to take a leading role in its award-recognised innovation team. This is an opportunity to help reshape how legal services are designed, delivered and experienced — both inside the firm and for its clients.
This dual-facing role blends internal business partnering with hands-on delivery of legal operations work for clients. It plays a central part in transforming how legal services are conceived and delivered, using innovation, technology and new ways of working to create measurable value on both sides.
Embedded with a practice group as a trusted adviser, the role draws on client-facing experience to shape internal innovation, while also working directly with client legal teams to modernise their own operations using approaches proven inside a leading law firm. It is designed to position the firm as a genuine leader in legal innovation, creating a feedback loop between internal capability-building and client-facing transformation.
Key responsibilities
- Drive innovation within practice groups by spotting challenges and opportunities in service delivery and designing solutions.
- Lead adoption of generative AI and other intelligent technology across legal teams and client work.
- Design, launch and scale new client-facing products, services and operating models that improve efficiency, quality and value.
- Improve legal workflows by breaking work into components and enabling alternative delivery models to boost capacity.
- Run end-to-end innovation projects — requirements gathering, programme management, ROI assessment and post-implementation review.
- Act as a trusted adviser to client legal departments on operations and transformation, building long-term relationships.
- Raise the firm’s external profile through thought leadership, client engagement and advocacy for its innovation work.
What we're looking for
- At least 4 years’ experience in legal operations, innovation or transformation, in a law firm or in-house team, delivering complex projects end to end.
- Prior legal-practice experience and strong understanding of the legal market and service-delivery challenges; qualified lawyers strongly preferred, though candidates with paralegal/legal-executive backgrounds will also be considered.
- Advanced understanding of generative AI and legal tech, including AI tools, document automation and innovation platforms.
- Strong stakeholder-engagement, analytical and problem-solving skills, able to influence at all levels.
- A commercial and delivery focus, including ROI modelling, programme management and value realisation.
