Innovation Attorney
Overview
This role sits within a global law firm’s technology function, acting as the connection point between the firm’s lawyers, clients and the technology team to make sure systems, tools and services genuinely meet the needs of practising attorneys and clients.
Working with practice-group leadership and those supporting practices directly (knowledge-management lawyers, practice-development managers and similar), the role gets under the skin of technology needs at the practice-group level, helps shape technical strategy to improve efficiency, and recommends how to fold applications and technology solutions into day-to-day workflow.
Key responsibilities
- Track developments in generative AI and other emerging technology to keep the firm’s platform current and well used.
- Brief firm and practice-group leadership on new technology and industry trends.
- Spot opportunities to bring existing and emerging technology into specific practices, supporting pilots and proofs of concept — specs, objective evaluation against peers and incumbents, and testing.
- Work with technology leadership and firm management on strategic recommendations for processes, policy, tools and other technology-enabled solutions.
- Build relationships with industry bodies, innovation thought leaders and vendors.
- Support communication between lawyers, local technology teams and global support, ensuring issues are resolved by the right people.
- Contribute to technology working groups and committees (e.g., technology and security committees).
- Deliver technology presentations and training to attorneys, and work with practice leadership on how emerging technology can support client service.
What we're looking for
- Understanding of product development/management — personas, user stories, scoping, requirements, roadmap planning, UI/UX, user testing.
- Proficient in core enterprise applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio).
- Knowledge of legal-technology product categories.
- JD or equivalent, plus admission to a relevant state bar.
- Experience as a practising lawyer in a firm or in a legal-operations role.
Also nice to have
- Technology-role experience.
Benefits
Strong total compensation with performance bonuses, health/life/income-protection cover, pension, wellness programmes, employee discounts, and access to global affinity and networking groups.
