Knowledge Transformation
AI-Ready Repositories
Global Law Firm

Overview

This role sits within a large law firm’s technology and knowledge organisation and is responsible for leading a team of knowledge specialists who identify, curate and structure the firm’s transactional precedents, playbooks and practice know-how so they can be used effectively within AI systems.

The Associate Director sets strategic direction, oversees performance and coaches the team, while making sure everyone is using AI effectively to support the wider firm.

Key responsibilities

  • Set and deliver a multi-year knowledge-transformation strategy, turning transactional precedents, templates and playbooks into structured, AI-ready repositories.
  • Set and oversee knowledge-engineering standards — taxonomies, metadata, tagging conventions and QA — so knowledge assets stay consistent, accurate and easy to retrieve across AI systems firmwide.
  • Oversee structured knowledge repositories (clause libraries, negotiation playbooks, market-terms databases, brief banks, motion templates, litigation-strategy guides and practice guidance) built for use as AI context.
  • Partner with innovation attorneys, legal engineers, knowledge lawyers, AI-services attorneys and technology colleagues to embed knowledge assets into AI workflows for drafting, due diligence, contract analysis, deal execution, research and case strategy.
  • Track KPIs, quality metrics and usage data to guide prioritisation and investment in knowledge-transformation work.
  • Safeguard confidential, privileged and proprietary information at all times.

What we're looking for

  • Deep expertise in knowledge management, taxonomy design and information architecture, with the ability to structure complex legal content for AI use.
  • Strong grounding in transactional practice (M&A, finance, capital markets) and the ability to identify high-value precedent and know-how.
  • Advanced knowledge-engineering skills — taxonomies, metadata schemas, tagging standards, repositories and QA frameworks for AI tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in law, library/information science, computer science or similar.
  • 10+ years in knowledge management, legal technology or legal practice, with real experience in knowledge engineering, taxonomy or AI systems.
  • Prior people-management experience required.

Also nice to have

  • JD preferred.
  • Transactional practice experience preferred; litigation experience also valued.

Benefits

Competitive total compensation with performance bonuses, full health/life/disability cover, retirement plan, generous holiday/PTO, well-being programmes, professional development and employee affinity networks.
